Most counties in California have been suffering from lack of rain. But when the rain came pouring down, accompanied by a chilly north wind, we seek for the comfort of a warm sun.
From my experience, there will usually be breaks during a rainy day. Determined to get my minimum daily walk, I went out with a windbreaker and an umbrella.
This was overall a productive day. J.J. and I emailed our prescription renewal requests to our PCP at Scripps. Doctors, nurses and other health providers as well as hospitals are overwhelmed in dealing with the ongoing Delta variants, vaccination and booster shots plus now Omicron.
With assistances from the Scripps medical team and Walmart Pharmacy, J.J. and I were able to refill our prescriptions for the next 3 months.
We witnessed a stunning and breathtaking sunset lasting 7 minutes during our drive back to the hotel.

Consumer Price Index in the United States rose 5.3 % across the board over the past 12 months. What is striking is that energy prices rose by 25% and food prices 6.1% over the same period.
For the two of us, the increased gas prices of 58.1% and daily costs of hotel stays of 25.5% directly affects us. Prices of food, if you purchase raw ingredients and prepare them at home registered a 4.7% increase. However, prepared food which applies in our case increased by 6.9%.
Spreading of Delta and Omicron variants and urgent calls for people to get vaccines plus booster shot have made many people tired and frustrated. All this bad news along with rising consumer prices, all one can wish is to keep themselves and family safe by continuing to remain vigilant.

Star Wars Sequel Trilogy 7, 8 & 9 were showing all day on LA local channel 35. These three films, The Force Awakens, The Last of Jedi, and The Rise of Skywalker were produced by Lucas Film Ltd and distributed by Walt Disney Motion pictures.
Although the Rise of Skywalker was released in 2019, this was the first time JJ and I saw its entirety. The individual who played the heroine, Rey, is Dailey Jazz Isobel Ridley, an English actress. Her acting is accomplished including her fighting techniques. I found out that she is a student of 3 different styles of Martial Arts including Taekwando and she did some of her own stunts.
What this sequel trilogy lacks is originality. Storytelling and direction required the visionary genius of George Lucas. John William’s familiar music provides powerful continuity, but the two of us were disappointed. It sounded like, to save money, the studio simply remastered existing soundtrack. The trilogy grossed over 4.4 billion at the box office worldwide. That is not counting product merchandising which J.J. and I saw at Disney logo shops, at airports and our travel destinations.

Aloha Everyone,
I found several “how to” articles regarding decreasing the effects of jet lag. J.J. and I have been getting more than sufficient sleep - 8 to 9 hours each night. We also take 15-30 minutes “power naps” during the day. Only problem is that our bodies have not adjusted to the local time zone. By 7:00 pm, the two of us are ready for bed. Good thing is that between 3:00 - 4:00 am, my energy level is fully recharged and I am prepared for a new day!
As with so many things that are stressing everyone, traveling during the time of COVID involves additional preparation which are time consuming and aggravating.

The two of us chose Walmart pharmacy to get our booster shot. J.J. made the online appointments and we showed up allowing 20 minutes to make sure everything was in order.
It appears that the computer combined my data with J.J.’s. Once that was straightened, the rest was quick. Since our first two vaccines were Pfizer, the booster we received was also Pfizer.
With Omicron variant fast spreading in California, I am very happy that we have additional protection. During light drizzles, using an umbrella, I had already walked 5 miles prior to our appointment. Therefore, this afternoon was spent going over accumulated letters and magazines and working on my drawings.
