Sea Empress Seafood Restaurant

Aloha Everyone,

Located on Redondo Beach Blvd in Gardena, we met my sister for dim sum lunch. It’s been quite a while since J.J. and I ate at the place.

Food was good and served hot but as with other dim sum places, you have to choose from a printed menu with tiny photos that are nondescript unless you are familiar with food by Chinese names. J.J. and I did okay. We selected 7 different plates including sesame ball desserts with red or white bean paste fillings.

Importance of Having Friends

Aloha Everyone,

Jeff has a wonderful circle of friends. Some are people in the education field with whom he works and others are his former students and their families who call on him for advice or support.

Jeff also maintains close relationships with friends from his university days. They call each other to wish happy birthday and kid about how much gray hair and wrinkles they now have. Those who are parents, they show off their children’s skills and lament about their aging parents.

Today, Kristi and her husband Mike were in town specifically to spend some time with Jeff before they flew to Maui for Kristi's family vacation.

“I have learned that friendship isn’t about who you’ve known the longest, it’s about who came and never left your side.”

Shopping at Trader Joe’s

Aloha Everyone,

Trader Joe’s is my favorite grocery store in Southern California. Their fresh produce are always several notches above competitors.

J.J. and I entered the store with a short list of items we wanted to buy. But he also found Atlantic salmon, beef rib-eye steak and ready to heat chicken tamales.

I added Rainier cherries and roasted pecan halves and a jar of spicy Kim Chee.

My eclectic lunch and dinner plates are featured herewith.
