Our 2nd Week at Seda BGC Dining in & Out

Aloha Everyone,

Champorado is a popular Filipino food often eaten for breakfast or as a snack. The origins of Champorado is the Mexican champurrado where mashed corn is used instead of glutinous rice.

I decided to take a teaspoonful to try it out. One cannot really describe how it tastes unless you have tried it. When I mentioned that to J.J., he agreed and bravely took a cupful of Champorado. He pushed it aside after a tablespoon full.  His reaction is that “I rather have my cup of coffee.”

Here’s what we have enjoyed during our 2nd week at Seda BGC.

Alter to Fit & Hong Kong Dim Sum

Aloha Everyone,

My white jacket was perfectly altered. Although it could’ve been 1/4 inches longer, I can now wear it without folding the sleeves.

Taste of Hong Kong is a tiny dim sum place. Every possible space is utilized including its ceiling for decor. Dim Sum dishes were served piping hot along with a cup of very hot water for me.

J.J. thought that quality of food and service was better than Din Tai Fun. For our 5 dishes, we paid 1,015 Filipino pesos or less than $19.

A neon sign of Money Changer was located at the end of this restaurant. J.J. asked if there is a Money Changer operating in the place, and our server chuckled and told us that the owner is Hong Kong Chinese. Thus he rents the space to a money changer who has a real storefront two floors below. The restaurant refers potential customers. They both make money.

Water Bottles

Aloha Everyone,

Every day, our room attendant leaves 4 water bottles in our room. Interesting thing about these water bottles are each individual bottle has added wrapping with a message, HOPE IN A BOTTLE. Encouraging message states “100% of Hope’s profits from this drink builds public school classrooms.”

I have two questions regarding these bottles. Each bottles contains 500 ml purified drinking water. If my calculations are correct, that would be over 4 cups of water.

My second question is perhaps due to its plastic wrapping, the bottle whether it is still unopened or partially filled makes irritating squeaky sounds. I try to hold the bottles from its neck or slide it on my palm and hold it from the bottom to circumvent the sounds.

Strange bottle although I hope the message is accurate. The Philippines needs more classrooms for a rapidly growing population.

Pound Flatterie

Aloha Everyone,

Just a short ride away but between BGC and Makati Greenbelt still seems like a world apart. J.J. and I had our dinner at Pound Flatterie. It has a tiny storefront and limited seating, but with good service and great food.

When the server asked me if I wanted veggie wrap sliders, I knew we came to the right place. Sliders are very small.  One can fit in my open palm. Even with two sliders, the amount of beef protein I ate was very thin and well cooked.

J.J. finished his Cesar Salad served with soft boiled egg but was cautious with Spaghetti alla Vongole. He removed most of the clams.

Unexpected service from the waiter handing me a box of disposable plastic gloves to pick up my veggie wrap made this especially a memorable dinner.

Dinner at Italianni’s with Richard & Terttu

Aloha Everyone,

First time since transferring to BGC Seda, it rained and we had to alter our leisurely walk around Bonifacio High Street.

The four of us saw each other just prior to the holidays. They recently returned from a family vacation in Cancun, Mexico. Over a wonderful dinner at Italianni’s, we shared our recent adventures.

Dessert of Tiramisu and NY Cheesecake was best part of our dinner menu. Unhealthy but delicious. The four of us justified by saying, how often do we get to see each other? Life is meant to be enjoyed :-)
