Beating the High Day-Time Temperature

Aloha Everyone,

It takes a little modification of our schedule to get my daily walk done. I woke up at 4:3O am, and as soon as the sunrise started to lighten the morning sky, I was on the road.

The temperature rose rapidly from 72 degrees to 83 degrees in a matter of 40 minutes. I completed my 5 miles before 7:00 am when the temperature had already reached 89 degrees.

One of my joys is to spot bright desert flowers during my walks. These robust, hearty plants economize their limited water source to survive and thrive.

I also noticed that most homes in Phoenix incorporate desert landscape designs to promote their natural environment and to conserve water.

However, there is always a renegade in any neighborhood. I passed one house surrounded by a lush green lawn and pine trees. The owner must pay a premium for water.
