Christmas Gift #1 - Curried Beef & Vegetable Pasties

Aloha Everyone,

In lieu of dining out with our children and granddaughter, J.J. and I offered to prepare their favorite but infrequently made at home dishes as our Christmas gifts.

Tonight we made Curried Beef & Vegetable Pasties. A pastie is a baked pastry associated with Cornwall, United Kingdom. These half moon pastries made of flour pie crust and meat and vegetable fillings are sold all over U.K. in specialty bakeries, supermarkets and kiosks. Warm pasties purchased at train stations also make a wonderful comfort meal for travelers.

My daughter-in-law was able to get the necessary ingredients ready so all I had to do was follow the simple directions I found online and get to work.

The small mishap which J.J. quickly rectified was the oven baking temperature. I asked him to set the oven at 180 degrees and JJ countered by saying that can’t be right. Well, a small error which I missed stated that baking temperature is to be 180 degrees. But it was in Celsius rather than in Fahrenheit.
