Morning Walks with My Sons

Aloha Everyone,

Easter weekend. As I was getting ready for my walk all bundled up, my son came down the stairs asking if I would like company. Of course I jumped on this opportunity. He is athletic and wears a 40 pounds body weight to maximize his walk exercise. His is not a casual stroll but a serious workout or at least that is compared to mine.

Not to hamper his walk, I tried to keep up with his pace and we would discuss about our lives, his daughter’s senior year plans and subjects she will be taking. After nearly an hour, my body started to warm up. I was happy when he said, I need to go back to check on something.

Within a matter of 10 minutes, my younger son, Jeff, telephoned me from Hawaii. Jeff and I have been able to catch one another in the morning as he drives into work or on weekends, when he goes on his early morning walk. We chatted while walking.

What a great way to start a day!

My Morning Walk Route 2

Aloha Everyone,

Walked towards Town Center Drive enjoying the sound of running water splashing against landscaped mini waterfalls and eventually to a small scale replica of Venice Grand Canal. Funny, J.J. and I had seen another Venice Grand Canal more recently during our stay in the Philippines.

This was a nostalgic walk as when our granddaughter was still a toddler, J.J. and I would take her to stroll around her neighborhood. She was particularly fascinated with the Renaissance Woman statue and would ask J.J. to lift her up so that she can get a closer look.

Italian Cuisine

Aloha Everyone,

Italians are serious about their cuisine. Recent interviews with Alberti Grandi, a food history professor caused a huge outcry. His research claim is that many dishes do not originate from Italy. For example, carbonara which J.J. learned to make, actually comes from America.

Grandi also claims the best Parmesan cheese is from Wisconsin. And Italy does not produce the best olive oil.

Proximity of countries in the Mediterranean region, with people traveling back and forth, introduced cuisine which we now call Italian.

The same is true as Italians migrated, bringing along their “homemade” recipes which were then modified, improved and changed.

J.J. prepared his version of carbonara handed to us by the late Paolo Borghese.  No cream sauce is added.  It is one of the simple, favorite dish for our family.

Improving Clan War Attacks Strategy

Aloha Everyone,

Just as in any competitive games you play against others, there’s always room for improvement. My excuses of, “the WiFi is not reliable” cannot apply this week as my son’s house has a good connection.

He also showed me YouTube channels by itzu which I should watch and learn. Additionally, this is a Clan War week and I will look at the replays of our clan members. There’s much to learn.

Very Cold Morning Walk

Aloha Everyone,

This area is one of my favorite places. Familiarity for the neighborhood is one reason and I also feel secure. Actually, there are different routes which I will be taking during our stay with our son’s family.

So here is my route 1.
