Bletchley Park & Facebook

Aloha Everyone,

This is a “feel good” story about Facebook making a £1 million ($1.3 million) donation to the museum at Bletchley Park. Bletchley Park was the secret venue where British code breakers decrypted messages sent using Nazi Germany’s Enigma cypher. The work of the code breakers lead to the development of Colossus, the first computer.

Many businesses and institutions are being closed due to the pandemic. It is a fitting for Facebook to make the large contribution to the place where “the era of the computer was born.”
