A Long Relaxing Lunch with Jeff and Laura

Aloha Everyone,

Today was a rather quiet day.  We spent the morning relaxing in our hotel room.

At about 11:00 AM we walked to Phuket Thai in Ward Village to meet with Jeff and Laura. We last saw the two of them in Michigan at the home.

Jeff and Laura have done extensive traveling over the last couple of months, so we had a lot of fun thing to talk about. Time flew by quickly and after 3 and a half hours we reluctantly parted company.

Yoga And Meditation Practice

Aloha Everyone,

One of the great joys for me in coming back to Honolulu is to practice Kundalini Yoga and meditation with my Regency Park Ohana.

The group is extra special.  They were by my side when I was studying to be certified as  a meditation teacher. When I had to learn fifty two different techniques, the Ohana helped me out as test subjects.

My Regency Park Ohana helps  me continue to grow and gives me another tie to our island home. Griff and I exchanged which one of us is more thankful for the opportunity to practice this morning. Sorry Griff, I win.  I am definitely more grateful for being able to practice with all of you!

Completed Doctors' Appointments

Aloha Everyone,

This morning the two of us had appointments with our Primary Care Physician. Dr. Y practices Family Medicine and has one of the best "bedside" manners. He not only has been taking care of our physical health but also spends a considerable time learning about us, our family and our RV adventure.

We had lunch at Big City Diner in Waipio before we headed back to Honolulu for my 4th and the final appointment.

I had planned on having fresh Hawaiian papaya everyday only to find out that this is an off season for the fruit. Happily, I was able to get a good papaya for lunch with my scrambled egg at Big City Diner.

After devoting the entire week for our medical requirements, J.J. and I are thrilled to find out that both of us have been able to maintain our health at the same level for the last two years. We said our au revoir to our doctors until next year.

Jeff met us for an early dinner at Island Burger Restaurant at Ala Moana Shopping Center. By asking the waitress to remove honey baked bacon, mine became a cheese with vegetable burger.

J.J. likes to run the AC so I requested for a blanket. With the comforter delivered to our room, I should get an excellent night's sleep.

Taking Care Of Business

Aloha Everyone,

Honolulu is a very walk-able city. J.J. and I walked to visit the office of our CPA without a prior appointment.

Janet was not in, but her capable and friendly professional associates were welcoming and ready to assist us. From left to right: Becky, Charmaine and Kim.

After finding out that Office Depot at Ward will be closing to make a room for the new Whole Foods, J.J. and I visited Office Max on Nimitz to get documents printed.

We had a pleasant drive on Nimitz Hwy to New Eagle Cafe located in the Nimitz Center for their famous saimin.

J.J. drove to Sand Island State Recreation Area for a view of the Aloha Tower from the harbor side before heading to Kaiser Moanalua for my apt.

A productive day. By the time we walked to the Ala Moana Center to look for a restaurant, it was also time to enjoy a golden sunset.

Getting Around Honolulu

Aloha Everyone,

Beautiful breezy morning, it was perfect weather for J.J. and me to walk over to Wailana Coffee Shop in Waikiki to meet Lena.

Yesterday Lena was teaching and was unable to join her husband George. Tomorrow she leaves for Charleston, South Carolina. Therefore today was the only time we could get together.

Spending time with Jeff and wonderful friends like Lena and George ameliorate any time taken by our medical appointments. Different friends fill a need at different times in our lives. Lena, a strong, positive, immovable and warn person is the anchor one can reach out to in the turbulence times of life.

We stopped by one of our favorite Chinese Dim Sum restaurants for lunch.

After lunch we went to visit another one of our friends who has a home with an incredible view:

Ala Moana Shopping Center continues to undergo upgrades and modifications.

Jeff dropped by to spend about an hour between teaching and volleyball practice. We waited for him with bento boxes for dinner. Playing the "Mom" card, I wanted to make sure he is eating right while his wife is away visiting her family.
