Arrived in Alberta, Canada

Aloha Everyone,

We are in Canada!!! Took I-15 from Shelby, Montana. J.J. and I expected heavy traffic as we approached the border, but the route was quiet and peaceful.

It took us half an hour to get through the entry process to Alberta, Canada. The border guard appeared tough & unnecessarily stern. I suppose Canada is retaliating against current policies of the USA.

We found out that regular commercial banks do not handle foreign exchange for non-customers. We went to a small local bank to get US$300 changed to Canadian dollars.

There are 3 Chinese restaurants listed online but none are open. Instead, we had lunch at Tim Horton. We shared chili but the ham, cheese and turkey sandwich with uneatable. Our pasta and garden salads were so-so.

Tomorrow we will move to Calgary where we will stay 2 nights. We are hopeful that Calgary will be more sophisticated city than Alberta.

It is hot. 80 degrees in dry heat with strong wind. Hoping for cooler days.

Aloha -- Cathi
