Our Impression of Canada Day

Aloha Everyone,

From our bedroom window, I was able to take a serene view towards the Canadian Rockies. Weather forecast for the coming week in Banff is overcast with occasional showers. Maybe we will see a snowfall.

Took 90 minutes to finish our laundry.

This morning, we rode down an elevator with 5 other people. We asked one another what they did on Canada Day. They all went to look for fireworks and were disappointed that they were “puny”. We agreed that American cities have impressive fireworks.

J.J. and I watched celebrations of Calgary’s Canada Day on TV.  A common phrase we heard by speakers and guests we were referencing to Canada as “coast to coast to coast”. We are used to referring the size of the continental USA as “from sea to shining sea”.

Lots of red and black outfits among performers, and guests including PM and his wife. I heard a little girl of about 5. She was wearing a bright red t-shirt and black shorts. When her mother mentioned to her, “She is ready for the Canada Day.” The child beamed and asked, “Am I now a Canadian?”

Good hot breakfast on the ground floor restaurant.

Lunch at a Chinese restaurant in the small strip mall where we had Vietnamese food last night.

Tonight, we had mushroom soup and pizza. Huge piece of pizza, we stood up leaving 3/4 untouched. Making a cup of coffee using our room’s coffee machine took additional 30 minutes. Our stay in Calgary has been memorable.
