Back to ESA in Torrance

Aloha Everyone,

We had our car washed before leaving San Diego. By the time the two of us arrived in Irvine, it was 2:00 pm, a little late for lunch of Pho and egg rolls.

J.J. and I will be staying for 7 days at ESA in Torrance. Familiar room, we drove to purchase some provisions at Trader Joe’s and Nijiya for takeout Japanese bentos.

Had an incredible time in San Diego. It was also memorable to spend time drawing with my granddaughter and listening to her play duet on flute and piano with our son. Life is good!

Dining-in 3rd Week in San Diego

Aloha Everyone,

There are too many cooks in our kitchen. While our daughter-in-law & granddaughter were visiting in Hawaii, J.J. and our son cooked dinner. Once the rest of the family returned home, our daughter-in-law took over. They each have their own specialties. My granddaughter and I are content not competing.

Here are but few of our dining-in meals for 3rd Week in San Diego.

For a change, we had In-N-Out burger for lunch today.

Walking Exercises with my Granddaughter

Aloha Everyone,

We walked around the perimeter of our residential complex. This is the usual way I have been walking with my son. Coyote sighting has been reported in the wider perimeter of the neighborhood. The two of us remained alert and cautious. Knowing my grandmother is an accomplished martial artist gave me a sense of comfort. 

The two of us talked about her recent visit to see her maternal grandparents. Her current self endured project of animatics. Unfamiliar with terminology, I couldn’t understand what she was talking about until she described the process as storyboards. Having done tv commercials starting with storyboards that show your basic concepts, storylines, music, characters, settings and dialogues, they all come together.

Lunch at Vietnamese Restaurant

Aloha Everyone,

J.J. was the only one who chose traditional pho while others chose something more adventurous.

Our dishes were delivered all simultaneously by a Robot sever. My tofu Vietnamese sandwich in their crispy bread was excellent.

At noon, the restaurant was only 1/2 full. J.J. has been reading that dining out is one of the regular activities families have been cutting back. If you have more than two children, they might choose to have backyard BBQ with friends.

My First Yoga Class at Core Yoga

Aloha Everyone,

I have no core strength. Our son provided me with 3 contact information for physical therapists located all within 5 miles from his home. As instructed, appointments are made online. All 3 are fully booked until middle of August. Mentally ready to get started, to do something to regain my core strength, I stopped by at CorePower Yoga located in La Jolla UTC.

CorePower Yoga system is whoever teaching the class opens the front door 20 minutes before the next class starts. My first class was hot yoga class. We did mostly sitting and standing poses. After 45 minutes of workout, I was sore and couldn’t push myself up.

Little steps at a time. Happy to be back in a community of yoga practitioners. I have a long way to go.

Storage Locker, Shopping at Walmart, & Bentos at Tokyo Central

Aloha Everyone,

At the beginning and at the end of our stay at ESA in Del Amo Fashion Square, we go to drop off items we don’t need for now and pick up items we will need for our one week’s stay. The storage spaces elevator is working, and we are relieved that the two of us won’t have to walk upstairs.

J.J. commented that he is out of shape. So am I. At least during our stay here, we plan to get 2 or 3 miles a day.

I purchased protein bars and will have it for breakfast with cold water.
