To La Jolla, CA

Aloha Everyone,

This morning we took interstate 405 to I-5 then to California 805 to La Jolla. We were warned about a traffic built up near Del Mar, but today's driving was uncharacteristically smooth.

One of the reasons we were able to avoid traffic on the freeway is because we took advantage of carpool lanes.  The official term for carpool lane is HOV or High Occupancy Vehicle. It usually makes a huge difference when freeways are congested.

Carlsbad Premium Outlet mall is located approximately 30 minutes north of San Diego with normal flow of traffic. J.J. and I made a stop to have our lunch and stretch our legs.

So happy to be back with our family in La Jolla. Our granddaughter seemed to have grown at least an inch since we last saw her nearly 3 1/2 months ago. We arrived at her school early enough to observe her Tang Soo Doo practice. I will ask for private lessons from her so I can also learn some moves.

One of the routines with my granddaughter is her father reads her a bed-time story. Our son started this evening ritual ever since she was born. I recall when she was very young, he would read her annual reports of companies and she was happy being cradled in his arms listening to his soothing voice.

The book he is current reading is Maskerade by Terry Pratchett. Will write more about it in the coming days. I joined him and and after 30 minutes of the bed-time story, I am ready to go to sleep.

Aloha -- Cathi
