Laughlin, Nevada

Aloha Everyone,

At 6:30 AM, we woke up to cold rainy day with occasional snow flurries and pea-sized hail.

J.J. and I were grateful that we spent the night at Grand Canyon Railroad RV Park rather than at  a more remote state or national park. This facility has been voted as #1 among all Good Sam's RV Park club members and on days like today when the weather is bad, it was great to be able to drive off on clean, paved roads.

Just 30 miles on I-40 south, the sun was out and we were on another scenic drive.

At the 4,000 ft elevation, the temperature outside was 55 degrees Fahrenheit.

Kingman, Arizona promotes itself as "The Heart of Historic Route 66."  For us, it's always been a meal stop or for today where we left I-40 and took Highway 68 to Bullhead City on the Arizona side and to Laughlin across the Colorado River to Nevada.

Laughlin's location is about 2 hours south of Las Vegas. There are 10 casinos mostly located on the main strip called South Casino Drive. Most of these are within walking distance from one another.

J.J. and I are staying at Riverside Casino RV Park. Some casino/hotels are offering ridiculously low room rates during weekdays. J.J. and I walked into 3 of them just to check the quality and ambiance. We don't gamble and we don't drink. So the odds of winning being publicized are not all enticing to us. After our tour of casino/ hotels, we are happy with our decision on staying in the RV park where Honu provides us the first class accommodation.  :-)

Kathy and Bryan are from Summer land, BC. They have been RVing for 8 years and were willing to share some of their experiences with us.
