To Cheyenne, Wyoming

Aloha Everyone,

After 3 magical days in the Rocky Mountains, it was a time for us to leave. Originally I wanted to trace our route back through Trail Ridge Road to take another look at the breathtaking vista. Unfortunately, last night’s rain and thunder storm in Granby meant that the Trail Ridge Road froze overnight and was icy. Additionally, heavy fog and low lying clouds meant that driving would be dangerous.

J.J. decided on taking I-40 onto I-25 even it meant adding about 40 miles to our trip.

The two of us were dismayed and somewhat unhappy to see so many new condominiums and other real estate development even before we entered Winter Park. This is a popular ski resort, where the small permanent population vs available housing units is indicative of second homes and vacation condo ownership. Although progress is inevitable and home buyers love to have views from ridges. I do hope there are sensible building guidelines to prevent this area from over building just like Aspen, Vail, Breckenridge, Keystone, etc.

Cheyenne, the capital of Wyoming has area attractions such as the Cheyenne Frontier Days Old West Museum. As with our previous visits, the place serves as either a lunch stop or a place to spend the night. We are comfortably settled in Cheyenne KOA enjoying the reliable WiFi connections to do research on RV repair in South Dakota.

Aloha -- Cathi
