Trail Ridge Road and Reunion with Diane

Aloha Everyone,

From Estes Park, Trail Ridge Road spans 50 miles west to Grand Lake. It is the highest paved highway in the United States.

Getting up to the highest point of Trail Ridge Road in the Rocky Mountain National Park at 12,183 ft is a thrilling drive. Perhaps not for J.J. who had to watch out for people more than wild animals because they were unmindful of illegal parking and safety rules.

Our reunion with Diane is always special. For lunch, we went to Maverick Grill in Granby.

Diane gave us a few hours to take a nap and to settle down before having a picnic dinner.

So far the weather is cool, but clear. Diane has been working as a volunteer ranger at Rocky Mountain National Park for 3 years. She is a fit and experienced hiker. Diane is also certified in SAR (search and rescue) and CPR (Cardiopulmonary resuscitation). Diane offered to take me hiking tomorrow.

Aloha -- Cathi
