Umberto from Ferrara, Italy

Aloha Everyone,

During this Easter Holiday, the area surrounding the Acropolis is full of tourists from around the world. Especially predominant are student groups from the USA, Canada, European countries all eager to “learn Greek History and culture” or that’s what they tell their parents.

Umberto, a more matured and seasoned traveler took the adjacent table where J.J. and I were having lunch. Our conversation flowed easily. Umberto works for Verizon in Italy. He is in Athens on a brief holiday to visit his girlfriend who is working as a volunteer with refugees from Africa.

Umberto has travelled to South America including Brazil. He traveled to Greece in the past and visited a few islands including Rodos and Santorini. Tales of travel experiences and destinations are common elements which connect fellow travelers.

Umberto’s urgency to travel to see world heritage before its destruction from global warming and acid rain are topics which J.J. and I agree on wholeheartedly.

Aloha -- Cathi
