From Los Angeles to Japan on Singapore Airlines

Aloha Everyone,

Our flight was overbooked. As the three of us were checking in, we were approached by a ground crew asking if we would delay our departure by a day in exchange for $1,300 per person and guaranteed departure the following day.

Perhaps my definitive decline was done too hastily as J.J. voiced his opinion that it would not have been a bad deal. He would have negotiated for an upgrade to premium economy. For me getting ready this morning was lots of work and I just wanted to be on our way.

Singapore Airline Flight SQ11 uses Airbus 380-800 which is double-deck with a wide body. Our choice of the airline was cost driven but also this is my Mother's 3rd trip to Japan this year using Singapore. Having flown numerous airlines around the globe, she cites Singapore as one of the best for in-flight services.

In spite of turbulence and a packed flight, J.J. and I were pleased with the level of services provided by the flight attendants.

For those of you who are able to enjoy in-flight meals, here was our dinner:

Marinated shrimp cucumber salad
Grilled beef sirloin
Haagen Dazs Ice Cream

And snack:
Potato salad with tuna
Spaghetti Marinara
Oriental Roast Chicken
Lychee Mascarpone Cake

Andrew and Kristina are from Los Angeles. They work for different museums and are in Japan for a 9-days holiday.

Julia (l) from Singapore and Miyuki from Japan are a couple of flight attendants who epitomize the popular and positive "Singapore Girl" image.
