DoubleTree Hotel in Centro Historico

Aloha Everyone,

J.J. and I had a late brunch at the rooftop garden restaurant of DoubleTree Hotel. Based on a press release dated December 1, 2020, announcing the hotel opening, this is a relatively new property.

A few of the rooftop dining area tables were occupied with foreign hotel guests having a typical American breakfast. Three other tables with 6-8 people were locals. From the snippet of conversations we heard, they were celebrating birthdays or upcoming university graduation.

J.J.’s choice of a Mexican specialty dish didn’t look very exciting. I asked for a plate of fruits with yogurt.  Served with granolas, mine too was a breakfast entry. I guess one does not go there to eat but rather to enjoy the rooftop ambiance and either photograph or be photographed with another magnificent view of the Cathedral.

Original art by Elena Bulatova entitled “Sweet Life” decorated the 7th floor entry to the restaurant, as well as the ground level lobby. I would be interested to hear your reaction.
