Last Full Day in Cuenca

Aloha Everyone,

J.J. is satisfied with the work done on his tooth. Instead of conventional root-canal which usually takes at least 3 appointments over 2 weeks, Dr. Galarza had a specialist place a stint then she built a new tooth around it. The process alleviated pain and high costs.

We spent the rest of the morning doing laundry and packing.

For lunch, we returned to La Brasserie, one of our favorite restaurants in Cuenca. We certainly will miss all the affordable fine dining.

Always fresh cut flower arrangements for your table

J.J.'s  shrimp with olive

My vegetarian sandwich with las patatas fritas

Diego, always pleasant and always attentive

For dessert, we each enjoyed chocolate crepe with ice cream.

Please enjoy the photo tour of our beloved El Centro, Curnca. All these were taken within the 5 city blocks from our apartment.

We will miss our daily climbing of stairs

One more thing I'd like to share about Cuenca is its "un dolar" based economy.

Produce in the market are available for un dolar (1 dollar). Instead of asking what is the cost of say, papaya, you say " un dolar." For that amount you get either 1 papaya, 5 bananas, 10 pieces of limon (lime), 3 apples, 4 pears, 3-5 avocados depending of the size, etc.

Our celebrations desserts as we successfully completed our 1 month stay in Cuenca.

Aloha -- Cathi
