Cozumel, Mexico

Aloha Everyone,

Cozumel, located off the eastern coast of Yucatan Peninsula, is mostly an undeveloped island of Mexico in the Caribbean Sea. The island has a population of 95,000 and its economy is based on tourism. The islanders enjoy 91% employment which translates to low crime rate.

Interesting statistic shared by our official tour guide Cesar is that an average of 120 cruise ships visit the island per month.

Today there were 3 Carnival cruise ships and 1 Royal Caribbean ship in port.

Our shore excursion of "Living History & Island Overview" took the group to The Mayan Cocoa Company, then to Tequileria to learn about the process of Tequila production.

J.J. and I came away with a very positive impression of Cozumel. It is clean and the bus we rode was new and air conditioned. The roads were excellent. The island people looked happy and gave us a feeling that it is a safe place to visit.
