Day Trip To Bear Lake

Aloha Everyone,

The Wasatch-Cache National Forest Logan Canyon is designated as one of the National Scenic Byways. U.S. Highway 89 begins from the city of Logan, west entrance of the canyon, to Garden City, on the shore of Bear Lake. We made three brief stops for me to take photographs. However, there are a total 31 notable sites including the rushing and bubbling Logan River, numerous hiking trails, picnic areas, campgrounds and lookout points along the way.

Only 90 miles north of Salt Lake City, breathtaking natural beauty was uplifting to our spirits.

A short drive into Idaho along the perimeter of Bear Lake before we stopped for lunch. When I saw the ingenious tip jar, I had to ask what she is studying. Lexi is a nursing student at Idaho State University in Pocatello. J.J. added an additional tip in the jar as we wished her good luck.

J.J. and I enjoyed our leisurely picnic lunch under a large shady tree. A group of weekend bikers joined us and gave us some interesting insights to their lives.

We chose Route 38 for our return trip. The 5 1/2 hours day trip was truly enjoyable.

Aloha -- Cathi
