Quiet & Peaceful Caples Lake Campground

Aloha Everyone,

J.J. and I try to practice equanimity. Therefore, when there was a mix up with our reservations at the Gold Dust West RV Resort, we decided to look for an alternative & return after 2 days.

Caples Lake Campground is one of several campgrounds located within the Eldorado National Forest. Only 50 miles away from Carson City, the place is a world away. There is a total of 34 sites and at least 1/2 of them are for tent camping. No hook-ups. Fee is $24 per night less 50% with the "America The Beautiful Senior Pass."

The camping ground is perfect for hiking, rock climbing and wild flower viewing. J.J. and I walked around the entire camp ground and greeted several families with small children who were enjoying the weekend.

As soon as the sun had set, the temperature dropped below 50 promising us a cool or even a.chilly night.

For dinner, I made a large, healthy salad with baby spinach, broccoli slaw, cauliflower, red cabbage and carrot with a side of sauté sliced beef, mushroom and cubed tofu. Pane Guatuau completed our sumptuous meal.

Aloha -- Cathi
