Shoehorn and athletic walking shoes go hand in hand. I always make use of one to put on my shoes. Especially since my new Sketchers AirLift are built higher at the heels, it would be more convenient to make use of a slightly longer shoehorn.
When Hassan, the salesman at Sketchers used a long handle shoehorn for me to try the shoes on, I asked him where I could purchase one. I even offered to buy the one he was using :-)
Today, after 7 inquiries and 3.5 miles of walking around three different malls, I got answers such as, “I’m sorry it’s out of stock.” “It’s in the shoe accessories section.” After being sent to 4 different levels in one of the largest department stores plus several shoe specialty shops, our solution was to purchase thinner ankle length socks.
Most store clerks in the Philippines do not say, “I don’t know.” It’s against their culture. Therefore, when confronted with specific inquiry, they would smile politely and say, “Doon” which means over there or alternatively, “Out of stock.”
Thankfully J.J. with his perennial patience and good humor kept my company and help me maintain my composure.
