At Home Entertainment

Aloha Everyone,

This week, we watched two Netflix TV shows.

Fisk

Australian comedy about a small law practice involving all the quirky, dysfunctional people who either work for the firm or clients of the law firm.

According to a news release, with no fanfare, this comedy made Netflix’s top ten list of TV shows within a week. The main character, Helen Fisk has a personality that is coarse, “had-it-with-people”. Supporting casts of people in law firms, Helen’s father, a widow & retired Supreme Court justice who now resides with his boyfriend.

As quickly as J.J. and I warmed to the program, we decided to move on. J.J. referred to the program as vulgar Australian humor with small nuggets of intelligence.

Ugly Betty

This is an American comedy-drama series.  It was originally broadcasted on ABC between September 28, 2006 to April 14, 2010. Based on a Colombian telenovela “Yo soy Betty, la fea”, Ugly Betty.

Betty Suárez, the main character of the program works at a prestigious high fashion magazine. Beautiful people, but dog eat dog world, Betty’s commonality, her upbringing, her lack of style is constantly ridiculed. However, love of Betty’s family, her sincerity, honesty and intelligence guide Betty to make right decisions.
