Giving A Ride To Hitchhikers

Aloha Everyone,

We saw the couple as they stood at the edge of the road with a thumb pointing to the direction we were going. J.J. and I never casually pick up hitchhikers. The only other time was in Greece over 30 years ago when we gave a ride to 3 American college-aged girls to the monasteries of Metéora.

Penny and Jack are from Boise, Idaho. He is a semi-retired engineer and she, retired from the medical field, then earned a degree in art (small metal sculptures). Both were well-traveled and interesting. Penny and Jack love hiking and said they've been to Zion a number of times. Today they were on their way to do a 10 miles hike back to where they left their car. We wished them a safe journey as we bid farewell.

The second notable person I met was Brenda at the Powell Museum & Official Visitor Center in Page, AZ. Knowledgeable about her Navajo culture, she took her time to explain about the places within the Navajo Indian Reservations J.J. and I plan to visit on this trip.

It is 73 degrees with dry desert air. Beautiful sunset as we finished two loads of laundry.

Aloha -- Cathi
