Getting New Eye Glasses

Aloha Everyone,

I first got my prescription reading glasses about 12 years ago. When I needed replacement pairs, I purchased them over the counter at one of the pharmacies in the Inited States.

Having my eyes checked by an optometrist and getting new pairs of glasses was on our list of things to do during our sojourn in the Philippines.

There is a large selection of optical retail stores just within Greenbelt. The two of us began our research by making personal inquiries and decided on Executive Optical located in Glorietta Mall. From the first moment we walked into the store, we felt comfortable.  Shayne, one of the sales people, answered all our questions and never tried to sell additional services or value-added products.

After conducting a thorough eye examination, Dr. Patrice and I concluded that I need two separate pairs of glasses: one for reading and one for driving.

Coincidentally, J.J. also ended up with a similar solution. Interesting thing is that I have been using one of J.J.'s glasses since mine broke. That must have been over 6 months ago. According to Dr. Patrice, the two of us have nearly same requirements for our reading glasses :-)

The total cost for eye exams, 4 pairs of glasses including frames came out to US$252

We celebrated our accomplishment with Spanish food: Sopa de peché (seafood soup), paélla (rice dish) and dessert of churros con chocolate!

Delicious meal!
