León is our entry point for the Colonial Highlands. We had a couple of different experiences.
The first was to witness a national police drill (Federal) at one of the main plazas. Children were so excited that they approached the officers to snap photos with their mobile phones.
Another was to stumble into a political rally by Morena, the National Regeneration Movement. With bands and musicians, flags and logo items, this left-wing political party in Mexico is aspiring to win the next Presidential election.
On a different note, J.J. and I saw many street musicians in Centro Histórico. There is a college of music located in the plaza. Perhaps some of their students are among the ones we met and photographed.
As we conclude our one week stay in León, J.J. and I leave this authentic Mexican city with feeling of love and gratitude. Authentic because less than a handful spoke English. It required us to gain greater proficiency in Spanish.
