The Big Bend National Park

Aloha Everyone,

The Big Bend National Park is our 36th out of 59 national parks. The name “Big Bend” refers to the Rio Grande river where it makes an U-turn creating the boundary between the United States (Texas) and Mexico. In addition to Rio Grande, one of the best features of Big Bend NP is Santa Elena Canyon, 1/2 is in the USA and other half in Mexico. The park is perfect for hiking, backcountry exploration and river running.

Tonight we are staying at an RV Park in Marathon. A railroad track runs right along the park. Perhaps my driving 2 plus hours this morning was fatiguing enough for me to sleep through the many trains’ whistling sound.
