Museum Of Making Music & Hayutin Music Studio Recital

Aloha Everyone,

Museum Of Making Music is the museum of the National Association of Music Merchants. It is the not-for-profit association located at 5790 Armada Dr in Carlsbad. www.MuseumofMakingMusic.org

The museum's collection and displays are chronologically organized from the early 1900's to the present.

I was able to try the Chinese gong which is very different from the gongs we use for our meditation. We also tried other instruments including drums, piano, guitars and mandolin.

Admission is $8 for adult, $5 for students age 6-18. Seniors (age 60 plus) and active military pay $5. We received further discount because the museum was also the venue for our granddaughter's flute recital.

Joyce Hayutin heads the Hayutin Music Studio. Our granddaughter has been studying flute under Joyce since summer to supplement her intermediate and Jazz band practices at school. Music is a universal language and we enjoyed our Sunday afternoon listening to our granddaughter and other students perform selections from classic to jazz.

Kate, a family friend of Joyce was taking photos of the performance as well as the families. I took some photos of Kate as photographers hardly get photographed.

Aloha -- Cathi
