A Bus Tour of Athens

Aloha Everyone,

This morning’s announcement by Trump that people from the countries that belong to the Schengen Agreement are banned from entering the USA for one month is getting very angry reactions from European leaders and their citizens. Tourism officials are very worried. Hotel cancellations are already at 45% in Athens and the expectation is things will get worse after Trump’s announcement.

There are long queues of taxis waiting for passengers with no riders. But supermarkets in Plaka are stocked with everything from gift items to essentials including sanitizer wipes.

Today, J.J. and I took a tour of major attractions from the top deck of a Gray Line bus. During our morning ride, we were the only passengers and in the afternoon, a couple from New York with two elementary school age children joined us.

Among the attractions J.J. and I enjoyed on our “drive-bys” are National Library of Greece, University of Athens, Panathenaic Stadium, Temple of Zeus, Arch of Hadrian and the iconic Acropolis. It was difficult to choose from close to 100 photos I took for our blog. In the coming days, the two of us will be visiting some of these places on foot to get a closer look and a chance to get an in-depth understanding of these remarkable sites.

Aloha -- Cathi
