Plaka, the Old Historical Neighborhood

Aloha Everyone,

We are grateful that at least for the next two weeks, we have reservations at a hotel in the center of Plaka. Even as the entire city seems to be shutting down, J.J. and I can still walk the  historical neighborhood of Plaka and stumble into one of over two dozen Orthodox Churches. Some are very small, but regularly visited by devotees.

Navigating the narrow streets of Plaka, we often get unexpected sights of the Acropolis.

To minimize people rushing to stock up on household goods, a supermarket J.J. and I have been frequenting has begun limiting the number of customers in the store at one time. We had to laugh as it reminded us of Waikiki luxury good stores during the height of the Japanese economic boom.

For dinner, J.J. was able to find a take away place that prepared souvlaki in a hot pita wrap. We were happy to return to our hotel room before the fury of yellow wind (gale wind) made it challenging for us to walk.

Aloha -- Cathi
