Morro Rock Revisited

Aloha Everyone,

Also known as the Morros, the Nine Sisters are a chain of nine volcanic peaks and hills between Morro Bay and San Luis Obispo. They are located nearly in a straight line for 12 miles.

The Nine Sisters were created over 20,000,000 years ago. They are popular with photographers and rock climbers. Without a geographical map to guide us, we were only guessing their identity. Here are a few of the "sisters" I photographed:

Have you ever had a wonderful fish dish and then afterwards found out that the fish you just ate really looked like a prehistoric species. Lingcod is ugly. I mean it has a hideous appearance. It is neither a ling nor a cod  but a member of the Pacific greenling family, Hexagrammidae. It is native only to North Pacific waters off the west coast of North America. The meat of the fish is white, firm and does not have any fishy smell. Grilled with herbs and spices, it is delicious. If you would like to look at the face of this interesting fish, google Lingcod.
