Aloha Everyone,
Spain is made up of 17 autonomous regions, or autonomous communities, and 50 provinces. Asturias, where Oviedo is located, is one of them. This area is part of a former kingdom and a stronghold of Christianity against the Moors tracing back to the 13th centuries. Residents of Oviedo are proud of its medieval old town, and the Oviedo Cathedral.
After 7 hours on the road, 4 1/2 hours on a train, we arrived at our destination. Our AirBNB host Ruben lives next door to the apartment unit we are renting for the next 2 weeks. He met us to check us in and enthusiastically gave us verbal highlights of Oviedo. However, the two of us were too travel weary to listen to all the details.
Conveniently, a mid-size supermarket is just two minutes walk. J.J. and I went out immediately to purchase needed provisions and settled down for dinner. I had hot oatmeal with almond milk, something I have been craving for. It should take us a couple of days to settle in.
