Religious Processions & Peaceful Campo Grande Park

Aloha Everyone,

There are over 90 cathedrals in Spain and nearly 50% of the population identify themselves as Catholic. On weekdays, at least three times a day, the peal of church bells summon the faithful. On Sundays, the ringing of bells increases to every quarter of an hour.

Loud drums led a marching band through the narrow cobblestone streets. Wonderful coincidence that the two of us were walking on the right side of the street to be able to capture up close photos of the shrine and religious societies representing their organizations. Flurries of rose petals were tossed from upper level balconies to honor the shrine. It was a scene from a Godfather movie. The sights and sounds plus scents of incense filling the air was intoxicating and powerful.

In contrast, Sunday afternoon at Campo Grande Park was leisurely and peaceful.
