Ohio, Buckeye State

Aloha Everyone,

Our return to Ohio was greeted by heavy downpour. Not just once, but twice. Looking at the bright side, we were able to get Honu cleaned.

Our picnic lunch was at a clean and modern rest area. I had French bread with sliced grilled steak and white cheddar cheese, cucumber, baby spinach, apples and spicy tortilla chips.

Buckeye, the official state tree of Ohio is related to horse chestnuts. Shiny brown colored nuts with light tan patch resembles the eye of a deer. It is inedible but folklore says carrying one brings good luck.

Here is a buckeye tree on the grounds of KOA Buckeye Lake campground. Only a few seed pods were still hanging on branches. I gathered six buckeye seeds to share with our granddaughter and grandnephews.
